A native of Mexico, Chef German understands it all when it comes to food, especially connection, smells, textures, memories, and stories. Despite never having grew up in a “chef family”, he discovered his passion for cooking as far back as enjoying his mother’s stew and before he knew it, he began making breakfast and lunch for his brothers. He soon attended culinary university, and while initially unsure about his future after encountering struggles as a young chef, he strived to never give up, and was soon working in a pan Latin restaurant and consistently adding his own native flavors to dishes there. He lived in different countries in North America, eventually working his way up to becoming a sous chef. It was at this point in time that Chef German decided to make a life changing decision and move to the UAE, a country far away from his native land and begin a new chapter in his life. Today, he is the speciality outlet chef at Michelin Guide selected seafood restaurant Finz at Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi and believes that it has been a perfect opportunity for him to experience a wide new array of flavors, traditions, people, cultures, and a brand-new cooking style. However, he says that emotionally rewarding part for him is knowing that the people he loves are very proud of him.
