Chatting to Lebanese artist, Wael Hamadeh, on art as life

Just ahead of World Art Day on 15th April, Amwaj Rotana invited Wael Hamadeh to Fumo Lounge to showcase some of his works. Saying that his paintings are excellent are an understatement. Guests who came to the event could vouch for that.
A resident of the UAE since 1995, Wael picked up art at a very young age and earned an Art Diploma from Edinburgh in Scotland. Although it's not his full-time job, he has never stopped painting and in his own words said that he discovered his skills through "light and brush".
Wael's orientation for his painting focuses on a Middle Eastern folklore with a surreal twist. He has also participated in many exhibitions in the UAE and conducted seminars and workshops about art and photography. We got to chatting to Wael about what encapsulates about his passion for art...
The beginnings
His passion first developed through his father who himself was a sculptor. Naturally, Wael himself started with 3D craft when he first started delving into art. He built numerous props and sets for stage plays at the theatre of the Lebanese American University in Beirut (LAU). One of his first earliest exhibitions, as early as 1995, saw him sell 7 out of the 9 works he displayed.
The inspiration
Wael has worked for large corporations such as Nestle and Emirates. While maintaining a full-time job, he has always keep the momentum going for art. He draws most of his inspiration from nature, that is understanding nature and creating his own version of it. Coming from the region of Chouf in Lebanon, he was consistently surrounded by some of the country's most breathtaking views.
