Dubai, June 29, 2015 – As part of the hotel’s community-oriented initiatives, in collaboration with the Bright Side Dubai Art Training Center, Rose Rayhaan by Rotana Hotel, a flagship property of Rotana, previously certified the world’s tallest hotel by Guinness Book of World Records has recently held a fun filled day event for the Senses Residential and Day Care Centre for special needs children.

Recognizing the importance of giving special needs individuals the ability to integrate into society as independent individuals, the event was bringing more awareness to the community and providing fun activities for children by putting smiles on their faces and making a difference in children’s lives. The event commenced with the special art training session provided by Bright Side teachers whereby children had a fun time learning how to paint using the special method that was introduced in Dubai at Bright Side. Fun activities were followed by Iftar prepared by hotel’s chefs for the Senses children and stuff members. Rose colleagues had a great chance to spend time with the children and to hand over gifts and prizes afterwards.

‘Hosting our children from the Senses became our annual event that we are looking forward to hold not only during Ramadan but on the other occasions. We are very pleased to have this opportunity to support the continuous wonderful work done by Senses Center led by Dr. Lina Owies who dedicated her life to this children and it always gives us immense pleasure to be contributing to this noble cause in our own small way.’ said Mr. Karim Nahas, General Manager of Rose Rayhaan by Rotana.

Commenting on the art sessions, the artist Yulia Klimontova commented: ‘At Bright Side, we teach how to paint very easily using special techniques that help to activate right side of the brain that is responsible for creativity. However, it not only about painting - working with colors is directly connected with the emotional sphere and helps to reduce stress, anxiety and aggression. Learning how to paint is particularly beneficial for children, especially for children with special educational needs. Some of the benefits are eye-hand coordination, small motor control, learning to experiment and discover by mixing colors and using different brush strokes, just to name a few. That was our first class with the Senses and more to come to complete the program with children in nearest future.’

Being a completely non-profit organization, Senses Residential and Day Care Centre is the first and only residential care facility for special needs in the UAE and the Middle East. Through specialized programs that combine speech and music therapy, art, life skills, sports and physiotherapy, children from the age of two to nineteen with mild or severe physical disabilities and Down Syndrome receive the care they need. Senses provides a home with round-the-clock care for children who need special therapies offering them rehabilitative and educational.

Since opening in December 2009, Rose Rayhaan by Rotana has been an integral part of UAE society and has been involved in numerous community customized projects such as clean-up campaigns, regular blood donations, organizing donations to the Philippines after severe natural disasters. The hotel was recently awarded for the ‘Most improved hotel in sustainability practices - 4 star hotel’ during the Dubai Green Tourism Award 2014 for its sustainability plan, as well as environmental performance and practices.
