Recycled Art

As part of the World Environment Day, Park Rotana Abu Dhabi in association with Brighton College Abu Dhabi organized a Children’s Art Fair. The opening of the exhibition was held on the 7th of June whereby 250 students from the pre-prep section showcased 11 creative pieces of art made from recyclable items.



The items represented different themes such as, ‘Think Global, Act Local’, ‘Nature’s chair supporting human kind’ and ‘Tree of hope’ all aimed to raise awareness on the importance of waste management. Each class group cut, coloured, moulded and painted art that symbolized what the World Environment Day means to them.

The pieces will be on display from the 8th to the 11th of June at the hotel lobby, and guests will be able to vote online for their favorite piece of art. The winning group will take home a special prize and certificates.

The initiative is an important lesson for the children, said Head of Pre-prep at Brighton College Joanna Vigneron, “Our young people today are growing up in a world that is ever more convenient and ever more wasteful. It is important that we as adults encourage them to think carefully about the resources they use and to understand the fragile balance between nature and man.”

Park Rotana General Manager Francisco Giles commented “The Children’s Art Fair exhibition falls under our Rotana Earth initiatives and offers children an ideal platform of combining artwork with information about environmental responsibility and sustainability. We are pleased to teach the younger generations about sustainable and smart choices while demonstrating the goals and values of community involvement.”
