Fans of US sitcom Cheers will feel right at home at Boston Bar, which is decorated in the style of the popular show. People flock there to soak up the fun and friendly atmosphere and enjoy the large food portions. For budding Frasier Cranes, the sophisticated Beef Carpaccio with parmesan cheese flakes followed by the Cajun-spiced Salmon Fillet make for a suitably refined choice, while the faithful Burger and Chips is sure to satisfy larger appetites.

Coopers Bar & Restaurant
Park Rotana – Abu Dhabi
We visited Coopers on a Thursday evening with a view to calorie-loading before taking part in a 10k running race at the nearby Zayed Sports City the following morning, and we weren’t disappointed. As raw fish fans, we were pleasantly surprised to see salmon tartar on the menu and followed this up with a compact yet satisfying Lady Steak. The bar was heaving with a DJ pumping out pop music and lively groups dominating the larger tables. Coopers is a great place to go to lift your spirits and the service is amazingly attentive – it put one very high brow restaurant we’d recently visited to shame.

Double Decker
Al Murooj Rotana – Dubai
Double Decker is inspired by the iconic, two-storey buses that roam London’s streets. Vintage bus-stop signs and number plates take pride of place and add
a quirky, fun touch to the friendly venue. Many of the menu items are meant for sharing, such as the tasty Tempura Rock Shrimp with green papaya and siracha chilli sauce, and the mouth-watering Big Daddy Burger. Long’s Bar
Towers Rotana – Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai
Offering the laid-back vibe of a colonialstyle den, complete with big screen TVs
showing sports, Long’s delivers more than just your stereotypical pub grub. The Pea
and Mint Soup topped with white truffle oil is a case in point. When it comes to
mains, Far Eastern-inspired dishes, such as Nasi Gorang, sit happily alongside classics like Steak Pie and Mash. As the name suggests, Long’s is also home to the
longest bar in Dubai.

Nelson’s
Media Rotana – Dubai
With leather armchairs and dark wood furniture, this London-style venue is a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of Dubai. The menu is based on quality British classics with a five-star feel befitting the hotel, and includes a very satisfying Cod and Chips. Other popular menu items include the Asian Salad and French Onion Soup. We tried them all and were impressed. If you’re in the mood for lighter bites, such as Mediterranean Tapas and Seared Tuna Tataki, head upstairs to the newlyopened The Terrace on the first floor.
