A group of colleagues from Centro Capital Doha spent the better part of their afternoon as volunteers at Paws Rescue Qatar. The non profit shelter is dedicated to providing a safe haven for homeless animals until they can be placed in responsible, loving homes. The shelter mainly rely on fundraisers, volunteers, flight angels, foster homes and donations to provide a safe home for all the animals at the shelter, and all the others soon to come.
The colleagues got a chance to pet the cats and walk the dogs in the open field opposite the shelter. Speaking during the event, the General Manager, Erik Guluta said, "My team and I are happy to be part of this great initiative that the founders of Paws Rescue Qatar have started. We all have busy schedules but taking the time to give back to the society just by being a volunteer always goes a long way."
About Paws Rescue Qatar
The Co-Founders Emily and Alison started PAWS by fundraising for a couple of dogs that needed expensive medical treatment, and finding foster or forever homes for other stray dogs.
As numbers increased, a committee was formed with some dedicated volunteers who became more involved with the day-to-day running and development of our organisation. They initially developed a private property owned by a local resident of Qatar, but within a year it was evident that the facility was outgrown by the needs.
Their biggest task was to find land that is sufficient for their needs, and they have been at the forefront of the shelter build, which includes three kennel blocks for dogs, four communal rooms for cats, a basic clinic, isolation, quarantine, and facility rooms. They rely on the public’s support for furnishing the shelter rooms and the running costs. This includes everything from air conditioning units to beds for the animals, and so on.
