February 2015 - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Centro Capital Centre by Rotana organized a site visit for its colleagues to Masdar City. The tour was organized as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to educate and inform its colleagues about the usage of renewable and clean energy sources.

The 60 minutes visit to the world’s most sustainable eco-city, was conducted by Masdar’s Marketing & Corporate Communications department. During the tour, colleagues learned about the manner in which the city was designed in order to maximize convenience and reduce environmental impact on the ecosystem.
Initiated in 2008 and located close to the Abu Dhabi International Airport, Masdar City has successfully pioneered a “green print” for how cities of the future can accommodate rapid urbanization and dramatically reduce energy and water consumption along with waste production.
The colleagues enjoyed a walk through the naturally cooler city which combines ancient Arabic architectural techniques with modern technology and were also amazed watching one of the Middle East’s largest photovoltaic installations in operation.
Commenting on the visit, Ayman Ashor, General Manager, Centro Capital Centre by Rotana said, ‘Such visits are part and parcel of our constant efforts to learn more about the environmental initiatives in the country that we live in.’ He added, ‘It is commendable to look at the day to day operation of Masdar City and the way that it minimally effects the ecosystem. This is definitely something, all organisations can learn from.’
At the end of their visit, the team of colleagues left their signatures on the digital guestbook at the city, which in turn created a unique, computer-generated art form for each signature evoking a schematic urban planning map.
