A native of Malaysia, Chef Rohainah grew up with two authentic family recipe dishes that led her to discover her emotions towards cooking. These were her traditional hometown dish of kuih kapit (biscuit rolls), which she assisted her mother cook, and rendang, served during Eid celebrations. She was soon led to become a chef after having countless enjoyable moments in college and internships and found herself happiest travelling the world and sampling new traditional food. She worked abroad for many years, introducing countries’ unique dishes from across the globe to others, especially that from her traditional homeland, and worked with other chefs in the process, increasing her passion for cooking. Today, Chef Rohainah is the speciality outlet chef at Essence at Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, a perfect fit for the endless variety of cuisines and flavours served there. She has stated that her proudest moments are those when she is rewarded by a guest enjoying her beautifully created dishes. Her favourite dish to create is assam laksa, a traditional Malaysian dish.
